   International Night 2000

March 20, 2000 was our first International Night, hosted at the Chamber or Commerce. There were over 100 in attendance. Thanks to all the people who made it come together,  I would like to thank U.S. Navy (NAVSUP ) NFMT San Diego, for allowing Senior Chief Michael Gratton to be our key note speaker. He spoke on the Adopt a ship program. The sponsors were: Maison Gourmet Inc., Fresh Start Foods Inc., Liaison College, Nestle Foods Inc., Thyme & Truffles, All Seas Fisheries, Thomas, Lange & Singer, The Cakery, Pasquale Bros., parmalat Canada, Total Focus Foods, Whiz-a-top linen, Krinos, Canada Bread, Honeymans Beef Purveyors, Ice Culture and All Seas.
Also thanks to David Mcguigan c.c.c., chef at the Hamilton & District Chamber of Commerce, and to the chefs who helped hook it up. Willie Pei (Mr. Hors d'euvre), Andre Donnet, Mike Malone, Franky and Alex. Thank you also to the Mayor and City of Hamilton, Sheila Olson, Jim Auty, and to Pam Penny. We had a real great time. Chefs from Western New York and Toronto and Niagara Falls were in.

The theme this year was the ADOPT A SHIP Program. It was resounding success. Senior Chief Michael Gratton from (NFMT) San Diego was our Keynote speaker. He was  outstanding and was very well received. Our American chefs had become more aware of the ADOPT A SHIP program. I would like to say Thanks to LT. Chuck Sexton for giving his support to us. Also to (NFMT) San Diego for allowing Senior Chief Gratton to come to Canada as I know how busy all the (NFMT) teams are, and to let Senior Chief Gratton go was a big sacrafice . The other highlight of the evening was having the Four Canadian chefs that have adopted a ship at the meeting . Chef Monty Pryor, he was the first chef to Go San Diego USS JOHN STENNIS. Chef Sam Glass CEC, was the second USS JOHN STENNIS and the USS PORTSMOUTH. Trevor Hamilton c.c.c.USS SHILOH (CG67) USS DECATUR(DDG73), USS CONSTELLATION (CV64), USS HOUSTON(SSN713), Chris Cavalier USS PEAR HARBOR. Both Chef Sam and myself are heading back in a few weeks I am joining the USS DECATUR on its deployment and chef Sam back to the PORTSMOUTH. The night was a real eye opener for the chefs from states much interest was shown. There are many people to Thank as it takes the effort of a lot of people NAVSUP The NFMT. The Commands that open there ships to us . I hope to get to NAVSUP HQ. To say thank you CDR. Lindell and LT. Chuck Sexton in person. I hope you might post this as BZ to the ADOPT A SHIP.
